Community Guidelines

Everything that keeps SteamDrops running smoothly.

Your Account

Your SteamDrops identity is permanently tied to your Steam account. Keep it clean and keep it yours.

One Person, One Account

  • Every person gets one SteamDrops account — no matter how many Steam profiles you might have. Creating alt accounts to double-dip on points or entries will get all linked accounts permanently removed.
  • Account sharing or letting someone else use your account is treated the same as running multiple accounts.

Profile Standards

  • Your Steam avatar syncs to SteamDrops. Make sure it's something appropriate for a general audience — accounts with NSFW or offensive imagery may be suspended on sight.
  • Usernames must not impersonate other users or staff, and shouldn't contain slurs or offensive language.

Region Setting

During registration (or in Settings), you'll have an option to choose your country. This is a one-time choice — once saved, only staff can change it. Pick carefully, as it determines which region-restricted giveaways you're eligible for. If you don't choose a Region, you won't be able to participate in region locked giveaways.

Need a Correction? If you set the wrong region, open a support ticket. Staff can update it with a valid reason — the change is logged for transparency.

Trust & Feedback

SteamDrops runs on a trust system. Every key that gets redeemed successfully builds the creator's reputation — and every broken key chips away at it. Feedback is what powers this, and it's not optional.

After Revealing a Key

The moment you reveal a won key, SteamDrops expects you to test it and report back. Until you do, your account is frozen — no entering giveaways, no posting in forums, nothing. This ensures every key gets accounted for.

  • Mark the key as Working if it redeems on Steam without issues.
  • Mark the key as Broken if it's already been used, is invalid, or doesn't activate.
Account Freeze: Your entire account is locked between revealing a key and submitting feedback. This applies to every feature on the site — no exceptions.

What Feedback Means for Creators

  • Each Working response counts toward the creator's slot bonus and trust score.
  • Each Broken response costs the creator a giveaway slot and drags their trust percentage down.
  • Creators who accumulate broken keys will face increasing restrictions and may lose the ability to create giveaways.
Be Honest: Falsely reporting a working key as broken — or a broken key as working — undermines the entire system. Dishonest feedback is taken seriously and can result in a suspension.

Giving Games Away

Creating giveaways is how you contribute to the community, earn levels, and unlock more slots. But the keys you give away need to actually work.

Eligible Keys

  • Keys must be Steam-redeemable and grant permanent access to the full game or DLC.
  • Beta access, guest passes, timed trials, demos, and store coupons are not allowed.
  • The listed game must match the actual key. If your game isn't in the database, try pasting a steam store link to see if it works — don't substitute a different title.

Region-Locked Keys

  • If your keys only activate in certain regions, toggle the region restriction on and select exactly which countries are covered.
  • Skipping this step means winners outside the valid region get a broken key — and that's on you.
Dead Keys: Uploading keys that have already been redeemed, revoked, or are otherwise non-functional is treated as a serious violation. Each one costs a slot, and a pattern of it will lead to a ban.
Level Up by Giving: The value of your completed giveaways contributes to your Sent Value, which determines your level. Higher levels mean a bigger points cap and access to level-restricted giveaways.

Participating

Entering a giveaway costs points. Spend them wisely and respectfully.

Enter With Intent

  • Only enter giveaways for games you genuinely want to play and don't already own on Steam.
  • Avoid entering DLC giveaways if you don't have the base game — the system should be able to detect if you don't own a base game in most cases.
  • For bundles and packages, please avoid entering if you own most of the games from the bundle.

Private Giveaways

  • Some giveaways are invite-only. If you receive a link, that's between you and the creator — don't pass it around.
  • Entering through a leaked link with enough proof from giveaway creator may lead to account penalties such as 7 days ban from entering giveaways.
Cancellation Refunds: Giveaways that end with fewer than 5 entries are automatically cancelled. When that happens, every entrant gets their points back in full — no action needed on your part.

Claiming Prizes

Won something? Here's what's expected from the moment you're selected.

Reveal & Activate

  • Your key appears on the My Gifts page, hidden behind a reveal button. Take your time — but not too much time.
  • Redeem the key on the same Steam account you used to sign up for SteamDrops. No exceptions.
  • After activation, keep the game visible in your library. Don't remove it or set your game details to private — if your account is ever reviewed, we'll need to verify the redemption.
Claim Window: Keys that go unrevealed for 7 days are automatically reassigned to a different entrant. Check your gifts page regularly after entering giveaways.

What You Cannot Do With Won Keys

  • Resell them — on any marketplace, for any currency.
  • Trade them — with friends, strangers, or other users.
  • Regift them — even as a "nice gesture" to someone else.

Won keys are for your account only. Violating this is one of the fastest ways to a permanent ban.

Fair Play

A few ground rules that keep the platform fair for the 99% who play by them.

No Automation

  • Any tool, script, browser extension, or macro that interacts with SteamDrops on your behalf is banned. This covers auto-entry, page scrapers, point farming bots, and anything in between.
Instant Permanent Ban: Botting or scripting of any kind results in an immediate, permanent suspension. There are no warnings for this.

Respect Creators

  • If someone is giving away a game, don't show up in the comments calling it fake or questioning their motives. New users create legitimate giveaways all the time.
  • If something genuinely looks suspicious, use the report system privately rather than starting a public accusation.

Community Spaces

  • Forums and giveaway comments are shared spaces. Keep discussions civil.
  • Spam, harassment, and targeted attacks against other users will result in moderation action.
  • If someone is breaking the rules, a polite heads-up is welcome — but don't appoint yourself as the enforcer. Report it and move on.
Small Things Matter: A quick thank-you comment on a giveaway you won isn't required, but creators notice and appreciate it.

Enforcement

When these guidelines are broken, here's how SteamDrops responds.

Suspension Triggers

  • Operating multiple accounts or sharing access.
  • Any form of automation or scripting.
  • Uploading broken, stolen, or fraudulent keys repeatedly.
  • Reselling, trading, or redistributing won games.
  • Submitting false feedback to manipulate trust scores.
  • Ongoing harassment, spam, or disruptive conduct.

While Suspended

  • You lose access to all site features — giveaways, forums, everything.
  • Any active giveaway entries become ineligible for winner selection until the suspension lifts.
  • If you won a key but haven't revealed it, it will be rerolled to someone else after the standard 7-day window.
Public Transparency: All active suspensions are listed on the Ban List page with the reason and duration. SteamDrops doesn't ban quietly.

Appeals

Think a mistake was made? Open a support ticket with context about your situation. Every case gets a human review. That said, bans issued for botting or proven fraud are almost never overturned.

Accountability Goes Both Ways: Every moderation action is logged with timestamps and the responsible staff member. We hold ourselves to the same standard we hold the community.
